The auspicious evening of Vasant Panchami, dedicated to Goddess Saraswati, coincided with the First Day of the 2nd Global Veda Conference at Prasanthi Nilayam, setting a spiritually elevating tone for the event.
The evening opened with Prof Sannidhanam Sudarsana Sharma, who spoke on reclaiming Vedic sciences and integrating them with modern science. He emphasised daily Vedic practices, personal discipline, and the faithful performance of one’s duty, underscoring Dharma as the foundation of Vedic living.
This was followed by Dr Anuradha Choudry’s talk on Vedic psychology, where she highlighted the relevance of Vedic wisdom as a practical necessity for humanity’s future. She explored self-inquiry through the Sanskrit Vibhakti framework and the question, “Who am I?” concluding with the experiential truth that loving one’s neighbour is realising that the neighbour is oneself, echoing Swami’s message of “Love All, Serve All; Help Ever, Hurt Never.”
Participants then chanted the Vak, Shraddha, and Medha Suktams, filling the sacred space with devotion. Two audio-visual presentations followed, tracing the journey from existence and vibration to sound and music.
The evening concluded with ‘Swara Sharada’, a thematic presentation by Dr Anuradha Mahesh and team, demonstrating the experiential power of sound and music. Through explanations of the seven notes and their connection to nature, centred on Shadja (Sa) as the primordial source from Īśvara, and through evocative vocal and veena renditions of classical kritis, the program came to a serene close.
