The abode of the highest peace

Prashanti Nilayam means “the abode of highest peace”. It is the main ashram of Sri Sathya Sai Baba, located near the village of Puttaparthi amidst hills, with the Chitravathi River to the east. The valley houses Sri Sathya Sai Baba’s divine sannidhi (sanctum), the Sai Kulwant Hall, bhajan mandir, residential complexes, the headquarters of the Sri Sathya Sai Central Trust, its institutions, and the Sri Sathya Sai Service Organisations.

Sri Sathya Sai Baba spent most of the year at Prashanthi Nilayam and hence this sacred township is the destination of thousands of spiritual aspirants from diverse cultures, beliefs, races, languages ​​and socio-economic strata from all over the world to behold His divine presence and experience His pure love.

How to get there


The Divine Love of Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba draws people from all over to Prasanthi Nilayam, the abode of supreme peace located in the small town of Puttaparthi. What was once a small village has now grown into an internationally known spiritual centre. The Prasanthi Nilayam (Abode of Supreme Peace) ashram is situated in Puttaparthi in the Sri Sathya Sai District of the state of Andhra Pradesh in southern India. It is 150 kilometres (about 90 miles) northeast of Bangalore, about 85 km from Anantapur, 30 km from Penukonda, 40 km from Dharmavaram and 450 km from Hyderabad.

Puttaparthi is well connected to all major cities in southern India. The holy city has its own airport, railway station and bus stops. Reaching Puttaparthi from any other city in Andhra Pradesh is easy as a network of good roads connects it to other parts of the country.


By Taxi
A taxi from Bangalore to Prasanthi Nilayam takes about 2.5 to 3 hours and the fare varies from time to time. To arrange for a taxi from Prasanthi Nilayam to Bangalore, contact one of the taxi operators and travel agents who have offices outside the ashram. The Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation and the Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation operate buses to and from Puttaparthi to many cities and towns.

By Train
Reaching Prasanthi Nilayam by train is easy as Sri Satya Sai Prasanthi Nilayam Railway Station connects the town to all major cities in India including Hyderabad, Visakhapatnam, Bhubaneswar, Chennai, Mumbai and New Delhi. This station is 8 km from the ashram. It is connected to Puttaparthi by regular APSRTC bus services. There are many daily trains passing through Prasanthi Nilayam (station name: Sri Sathya Sai Prashanthi Nilayam; station code: SSPN on IRCTC website). There are many other trains passing through Dharmavaram Railway Station (station code: DMM on IRCTC website), which is about 40 km from Prasanthi Nilayam. You can also reach Dharmavaram by train and travel to Prasanthi Nilayam by road.

By Air
The nearest airport to Prasanthi Nilayam is Bengaluru International Airport. It is located about 130 km (80 miles) from Prasanthi Nilayam. There are flights to and from Bengaluru airport to many cities in India and other countries. To reach Prasanthi Nilayam you can fly to Bangalore (either directly or from Mumbai, Delhi, Chennai, Hyderabad, etc.). Then take a taxi or a bus. The airport is located about 30 kilometers north of Bangalore, between Bangalore and Puttaparthi. A taxi from Bangalore airport to Prasanthi Nilayam takes 2.5 to 3 hours and charges vary from time to time. You can ask your travel agent to book a taxi in advance. However, it is possible to get a taxi at the airport itself – there are plenty of taxi drivers waiting there.
