Each of these 12 nodal points serves several surrounding villages. Currently, this mobile hospital serves patients from 63 target villages along with patients visiting around 400 villages in the region. About 500 doctors from Andhra Pradesh and Telengana states belonging to 12 specialties dedicate their expertise and serve as volunteers on a continuous basis.
Some of the unique features of the Mobile Hospital include diagnostic facilities like colour Doppler ultrasound and 2D echocardiogram, digital X-ray and a laboratory, which can perform most of the routine pathological and biochemical investigations. Sri Sathya Sai General Hospital – Prashanti Nilayam

Sri Sathya Sai Institute of Higher Medical Sciences or simply known as Sri Sathya Sai Super Specialty Hospitals aims to provide free medical care to the sick and afflicted with the dedication, commitment, love and best of skills, so that they are cured in body, mind and spirit.
The mission of the hospitals is to provide high quality and free of cost medical care to all irrespective of caste, creed, religion and financial status in an atmosphere of love and care.
Sri Sathya Sai General Hospital, Prasanthi Nilayam, Puttaparthi is the first institution established by Sri Sathya Sai Baba in 1956. The seed that Baba planted then has grown into the great Sri Sathya Sai Healthcare wing today, with the establishment of Super Specialty Hospitals, mobile medical services, nationwide healthcare service programmes including free medical camps and international Medicare projects. In these days when medicine has become a business and rural healthcare is abysmally inadequate, Baba’s free Medicare in rural India, which this hospital represents, stands as a beacon of light for others to emulate.
The philosophy of this hospital in the words of Sri Sathya Sai Baba, the Founder, is as follows:
“People from this village and the surrounding villages will turn to this hospital for medical advice and assistance. Sadly, hospitals that treat patients with love and care, with dedication and devotion, are a rarity. There are hospitals with expensive equipment and expert doctors, huge buildings and spotless interiors, but they are more pleased with profit than with relief. Their services are for those who can pay large sums of money. Villagers are not welcome there, who in turn do not feel comfortable approaching them. Therefore, this hospital is being started in the midst of the villages so that expert advice and treatment can be provided to them in a loving atmosphere of love and devotion.”
All services at the hospital are provided completely free of cost to all patients depending on the facilities available. However, it is not practically possible to cater to the needs of all who visit the hospital. Therefore, the hospital primarily focuses on the needs of the residents of Sri Sathya Sai Taluka, which includes the mandals of Bukkapatnam, Kothacheruvu and Puttaparthi. Other patients who have simple general illnesses or those who come to the emergency room with acute conditions are taken care of depending on the manageability within the system. The hospital does not offer general medical check-ups or treatment for chronic ailments to such patients.
