Sri Sathya Sai Global Europe & UK, belong to the Zone 6 of the Sri Sathya Sai Global Council, the international entity of Sai Baba’s main institution, the Sri Sathya Sai Central Trust SSSCT.

The Sri Sathya Sai Central Trust was founded on 2 September 1972, with Sathya Sai Baba as sole trustee, to carry out activities in the areas of providing relief to the poor, medical aid and education. On 16 July 1975, the Trust was registered under Section 12A of the Income Tax Act 1961 of the Republic of India.

In March 2010, the Trust was reconstituted to include, besides Baba, former Chief Justice of India P N Bhagawati, chartered accountant Indulal Shah, former Central Vigilance Commission chief S V Giri, WS Industries chairman V Srinivasan and RJ Rathnakar. At that time, the Trust’s board of trustees also included advocate SS Naganand, former Canara Bank chairman J V Shetty, former Indian Overseas Bank chairman T K K Bhagawat and K Chakravarthi (retired IAS).

After the demise of Sathya Sai Baba in April 2011, the Trust’s activities were collectively managed by the then board of trustees. One of the trustees, RJ Rathnakar, son of Sathya Sai Baba’s late younger brother RV Janakiramaiah, had been taking responsibility for implementing the decisions, while staying in Puttaparthi.

In January 2020, RJ Rathnakar was unanimously appointed as Managing Trustee by all Trustees. Bangalore Mirror notes that the new position was created to further expand service activities.

As of August 2023, there are seven members on the Board of Trustees, including the Managing Trustee.

To promote the Divine Mission, the Sri Sathya Sai Global Council (SSSGC) acts as a Unifying, Coordinating and Overseeing body as all Sai organisations work freely in their respective domains keeping their structure and functions intact.

The SSSGC serves as a unifying forum to ensure that the above mission statements of Bhagawan, and indeed Bhagawan’s teachings and instructions, continue to guide the Sai Organisations He has established. These mission statements are currently being implemented; however, greater collaboration and cooperation of Sai organisations will help make the mission more visible, impactful and effective across the world. All stakeholders must work in love and unity on the basis of equality.
