Holi Celebrations at Prasanthi Nilayam | Drama Presentation by the Bal Vikas Girls from Bihar | Mar 4, 2026

On the colourful occasion of Holi, the Bal Vikas girls from Bihar offered a deeply meaningful drama presentation titled ‘Chhath Maiyya’, highlighting the spiritual significance of one of North India’s most revered and popular festivals – Chhath Puja. The presentation beautifully emphasised the worship of the feminine aspect of the Sun — a sacred tradition that reflects gratitude to nature and surrender to the Divine Will.

The origins of this worship were traced to Sage Jamadagni and Mother Renuka, who are believed to have first invoked the Sun’s nurturing feminine energy. The drama illustrated how this sacred observance flowed seamlessly across the Yugas — from Mother Sita in Treta Yuga, to Mother Kunti and Karna in Dwapara Yuga — carrying forward the eternal message of faith and austerity. Special mention was made of Sage Mudgala, who performed intense penance on the banks of the holy Ganga at present-day Munger in Bihar, further sanctifying this timeless practice.

Through devotion-filled enactment, traditional attire, and soulful music, the young Bal Vikas students brought alive the spiritual grandeur of Chhath Puja, reminding all that festivals are not mere cultural expressions, but living bridges connecting humanity across ages in gratitude and divine remembrance.

Earlier in the morning, the devotees had reverentially offered rice grains to Swami’s photograph while chanting the Ashtottara Shata Namavali, filling the atmosphere with sacred vibrations.
