“Nations are many, but Earth is one; stars are many, but sky is one; beings are many, but breath is one; religions are many, but God is one.” – Sri Sathya Sai Baba

Echoing this timeless message of unity in diversity, the sacred precincts of Prasanthi Nilayam were suffused with serenity and spiritual fervour on the auspicious occasion of Buddha Poornima 2026. Over 600 devotees from ten Buddhist nations, including Brunei, Indonesia, Japan, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Nepal, Singapore, Sri Lanka, and Taiwan, representing Zones 4 and 5 of the Sri Sathya Sai Global Council, gathered in reverence to commemorate the birth, enlightenment, and Mahaparinirvana of Gautama Buddha.

The proceedings commenced with a solemn and graceful procession amid the sacred chanting of the Narsingh Gatha, as the idol of the Buddha was brought in a beautifully adorned palanquin and reverentially installed at an altar exquisitely decorated in front of Bhagawan’s Sannidhi. This was followed by the ceremonial inauguration, with dignitaries lighting the sacred lamp to invoke divine blessings. Buddhist monks then offered a traditional pooja, filling the Sai Kulwant Hall with resonant chants and sacred verses dedicated to global peace and universal harmony.

Welcoming the august gathering, the program coordinator, Dr Narottam Upadhyay, introduced the theme, “Finding Happiness Within,” for this year. He drew a beautiful connection to Swami’s teachings, emphasising that true happiness is not derived from the external world but awakened from within through silence, meditation, prayer, and selfless service.

The keynote address by the Buddhist monk Venerable Khempo Samduk Lama offered profound spiritual insights. Reflecting on the transformative journey of the Buddha, he described it as a universal path from ignorance to enlightenment, guiding humanity beyond suffering. He underscored the cultivation of universal kindness, deep compassion, and inner peace; virtues that resonate deeply with Bhagawan’s message of “Love All, Serve All,” inspiring all to translate these ideals into daily life.
