The spirit and splendour of Kerala came alive at Prasanthi Nilayam as devotees celebrated Thiruvonam, Kerala’s most cherished festival, in the divine presence of Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba.
The Ashram wore a festive Kerala hue, beautifully adorned for the occasion. Adding to its traditional charm was the magnificent pookalam laid before Bhagawan’s Sannidhi, its intricate patterns and vibrant flowers offering a fragrant tribute of love at His Lotus Feet. The familiar sights, sounds and devotional traditions of Kerala lent a unique warmth to the celebrations, bringing the spirit of Onam alive in Prasanthi Nilayam.
For over five decades, Bhagawan has graciously blessed the devotees of Kerala with the opportunity to celebrate Onam in His immediate divine presence. Since the early 1970s, these celebrations have remained a cherished annual tradition, reflecting Bhagawan’s immense love and benevolence towards His devotees from God’s Own Country.
Adding musical splendour to the celebrations was a soulful offering by renowned Carnatic vocalist Mr Kavalam Sreekumar and his ensemble, featuring Mr Attukal Balasubramanyam on violin, Mr S Sreerag on flute, Mr Sai Dutt on mridangam, and Mr Jagadeesh Kanadia on tabla. The musical bouquet featured Sri Ganapatiyude, Oruneramengilum, Narayanam Bhaje, Ramuni Karyamu, Krishna Nee Begane Baro, Pibare Rama Rasam, and Rithambare Vasundhare.
The celebrations attained their spiritual culmination with Bhagawan’s divine message on the true significance of Onam. Narrating the sacred story of Emperor Bali and Lord Vamana, Bhagawan highlighted Bali’s complete surrender to the Divine. He reminded us that the essence of Onam lies not merely in festivities and traditions, but in the eternal values of Sathya and Prema — Truth and Love.
