For the past six months, the sacred chariot carrying the Divine presence of Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba has journeyed across all 12 districts of Himachal Pradesh, traversing the winding mountain roads, verdant valleys and picturesque landscapes of the Himalayan state. From the snow-kissed highlands and pine-covered slopes to the fertile valleys and vibrant settlements nestled along the Beas and its tributaries, the chariot carried Bhagawan’s message of Love and Selfless Service to countless homes and hearts.
For 180 days, the Prema Pravahini became a moving centre of devotion. At every stop, devotees opened their homes and hearts to Bhagawan, offering prayers, bhajans and service. Almost every home and every devotee along the route sought to welcome the Divine Chariot with reverence and love. Now, after completing this extraordinary journey, the chariot is preparing to return to the abode of supreme peace — Prasanthi Nilayam.
The farewell proceedings commenced at Seri Manch, Mandi, where devotees from Chamba and Kinnaur districts offered a traditional and culturally rich welcome to Bhagawan.
The sacred chariot was received with devotional fervour as local traditions and cultural expressions came together in an offering of love. Adding a unique spiritual dimension to the occasion, representatives of local deities from nine different localities came together to bid a reverential farewell to Bhagawan. Bal Vikas children presented a vibrant cultural dance, their graceful movements reflecting the joy and innocence of devotion.
The presence of the senior functionaries of the Sri Sathya Sai Seva Organisations added solemnity to the occasion. Mr RJ Rathnakar, Managing Trustee, Sri Sathya Sai Central Trust, and Mr Nimish Pandya, All India President, SSSSO, along with other functionaries of the Organisation and dignitaries, offered their prayers to the sacred chariot. They then circumambulated the chariot in reverence and joined the devotees in a devotional procession on foot to the Paddal Grounds, nearly a kilometre away.
The Paddal Grounds came alive with the rich cultural heritage of Himachal Pradesh. Traditional folk dances brought colour and vibrancy to the celebrations, reflecting the diverse cultural traditions of the mountain communities that had embraced the Prema Pravahini during its six-month journey. The cultural program reached a deeply evocative crescendo with ‘Hriday Arpan’, a special musical presentation by the Prasanthi Bhajan Group. The soulful musical offering captivated the gathering, creating an atmosphere of devotion and surrender as hearts joined together in offering their love at the Lotus Feet of Bhagawan.
An exhibition showcasing the life and teachings of Bhagawan and the multifaceted service activities of the Organisation was also inaugurated this evening. The exhibition offered visitors an insight into the Organisation’s work across the fields of education, healthcare, social service, spiritual development and community outreach. Particularly noteworthy were the stalls showcasing the work of various skill development centres run by the SSSSO. An impressive array of handicrafts and organic products created by women reflected not merely traditional skills and creativity, but also the transformative power of self-reliance and empowerment.
