Some moments do not merely become events in history; they become memories etched in the hearts of thousands. The grand culmination of the Sri Sathya Sai Prema Pravahini Rath Yatra in Himachal Pradesh was one such moment.
After traversing the rugged mountains, winding valleys and challenging landscapes of Himachal Pradesh for months, the sacred Rath arrived in Mandi, the Dev Bhoomi, for a spectacular two-day culmination.
The proceedings began with a vibrant procession led by children from the Sri Sathya Sai Schools, dressed in traditional attire. This was followed by the rich cultural splendour of Himachal Pradesh, with traditional folk dances filling the atmosphere with colour and celebration.
The most remarkable feature was the presence of 108 revered local Devi and Devatas from across Himachal Pradesh. Accompanied by their traditional representatives and devotees, some travelled over 100 kilometres to have the divine darshan of Bhagawan through the sacred Rath. It was a profound expression of the region’s enduring Dev tradition and an unforgettable sight of spiritual symbolism.
The vast gathering that followed reflected the depth of devotion. Devotees travelled for hours from distant towns and villages, bringing together families, elders, youth and children in a shared expression of love for Bhagawan. Mountains and distance proved no barrier when hearts were drawn by devotion.
Addressing the gathering, Mr Nimish Pandya, AIP, SSSSO, spoke of the extraordinary blessing of witnessing this event during Bhagawan’s Centenary celebrations and appreciated the dedicated efforts of the Sri Sathya Sai Seva Organisation, Himachal Pradesh, in bringing devotees together for this grand occasion.
Mr RJ Rathnakar, Managing Trustee, Sri Sathya Sai Central Trust, reflected on the profound experience of the two-day proceedings, highlighting the unity of devotees, seamless coordination and remarkable participation of the local Dev tradition. He also recalled the dedicated contribution of Mr Shyam Sundar Ji, former State President of the Himachal Pradesh Organisation, whose efforts strengthened the Organisation and deepened the bond between Himachal’s devotees and Prasanthi Nilayam.
The culmination was also an expression of Bhagawan’s message of Love in Action. As part of the programme, 121 sewing machines were distributed to women from 44 skill-development centres, giving practical expression to the ideal of empowerment through self-reliance.
Yet, the journey continues. The sacred Rath now leaves the mountains and proceeds towards Punjab, before eventually converging with the other vehicles at Prasanthi Nilayam in November.
