As part of the ongoing 8th National Convention of Sri Sathya Sai Schools, the students of Sri Sathya Sai Vidya Vihar, Indore, presented an extraordinary devotional music program titled Sai Symphony at Prasanthi Nilayam this evening.
In a remarkable display of musical talent, devotion and teamwork, more than 50 students came together to offer a magnificent musical garland at the Divine Lotus Feet of Bhagawan, blending the timeless beauty of Indian classical ragas with devotional melodies, folk traditions and Western classical influences.
The ensemble featured eight harmoniums, ten tablas and three flutes, alongside mandolins, drums, keyboards and melodica, played by the boys. The girls complemented the ensemble with six violins, while 12 choir members demonstrated remarkable vocal versatility, shifting between alto and soprano registers, varying their pitch and creating beautiful counterpoint harmonies.
The students rendered popular Sai bhajans and the auspicious Mangal Geet ‘Ae Ri Sakhi Mangal Gao Ri’ in Raag Darbari. A soulful Bhatiyali Dhun and ‘Tobe Ekla Chalo Re’ in Raag Khamaj further enriched the musical journey. The vibrant segment Shiv Naad captivated the audience with ‘Joot Jata Mein Gangadhari’, an impressive Tabla Tarang featuring the Shiv Tandav Stotra tune, the energetic ‘Dum Dum Dum Dum Damaru Baje’, and a stirring melodic and percussion instrumental jugalbandi. The presentation concluded with the 100th Birthday Theme Song.
The evening’s vibrant musical journey beautifully demonstrated how music transcends boundaries of style and genre to become a heartfelt expression of love for the Divine.
