Grama Seva by the devotees from Zone 6 countries of Sri Sathya Sai Global Council | July 29, 2025

In a remarkable expression of devotion and selfless service, over 150 devotees from the United Kingdom and Europe converged at Kadiri to participate in an expansive Grama Seva initiative. Their journey was not just across countries and continents, but across hearts — bridging love, humility, and a shared spiritual kinship with the people of Sri Sathya Sai District.

This sacred seva spanned across 9 mandals, reaching 44 villages and directly benefiting over 500 families. With hearts full of love and hands eager to serve, the devotees distributed dry ration kits, along with dhotis and sarees wrapped in deep reverence, compassion, and a sense of sacred responsibility.

In a touching display of simplicity and immersion, these overseas devotees left behind the comforts of air-conditioned travel by choosing to travel in local RTC buses, traversing narrow village roads and scenic landscapes, becoming one with nature and embracing the rural rhythm of life. Singing joyful bhajans, soaking in the verdant surroundings, and sharing laughter and prayer, they lived the village life — walking rustic paths, interacting with locals, and serving with humility and joy.

The religious town of Kadiri, where the first Sai Samiti was established in 1976, is home to Sevadals who consistently rise to the occasion, stepping in as frontline sevaks whenever the regular contingent reduces due to unforeseen circumstances.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr RJ Rathnakar (Managing Trustee, SSSCT) highlighted the depth of sacrifice and love. While a resident from Kadiri may spend just half a pound to reach Puttaparthi, these devotees spent over 1200 pounds to make their pilgrimage — a glowing testament to their unwavering love for Bhagawan and their commitment to His mission.

He beautifully likened the devotees’ gesture to that of beloved family members visiting home, saying they have not come empty-handed. They have come not just with material gifts, but with tokens of love and hearts overflowing in gratitude — embracing the villagers not as recipients, but as their own family – ‘Sai family’.

This Grama Seva was far more than an act of charity — it was a sacred reunion of the global Sai family, a living expression of love without borders. It served as a resounding reminder that in serving the least, we are truly serving the Lord.
