The 79th Independence Day evening at Prasanthi Nilayam unfolded in a spirit of deep patriotism, gratitude, and inspiration, weaving together transformative personal journeys and a fervent call to serve the Motherland.
The programme commenced with three powerful talks by the youth, each narrating how their lives had been reshaped after coming into the Sathya Sai fold. Among them, National Youth Coordinator Mr Lakshmikanth Sharma shared an inspiring account of a unique initiative undertaken by the Sri Sathya Sai Seva Organisations — enrolling youth into the movement not merely as members, but as torchbearers of Bhagawan’s message. He spoke of how this platform has become a crucible for self-transformation while spreading awareness of Sai ideals far and wide.
Recalling the multitude of service activities undertaken by the youth over the past five years, he highlighted landmark projects such as ‘Prematharu’, under which over three lakh trees have been planted in the last two years, and ‘Liquid Love’, a large-scale blood donation campaign uniting donors from across the nation. These, he noted, are but a glimpse of the dedication of the ‘Sri Sathya Sai Young Messengers’, who strive to live His message under the able guidance of elders.
Following the inspiring talks, the students of the Sri Sathya Sai Institute of Higher Learning, Prasanthi Nilayam Campus, presented a patriotic drama titled ‘Amar Bharatham’. Continuing the sacred tradition of offering a drama on Independence Day in the Divine Omnipresence of Bharata Bhagya Vidhata Himself, the students portrayed the importance of serving the Motherland through powerful episodes from India’s glorious mythological epics. These timeless narratives brought alive the spirit of sacrifice, valour, and unwavering duty to the nation, leaving the audience deeply inspired.
As the final curtain fell, the entire gathering rose in unison to sing the National Anthem, their voices resonating through Sai Kulwant Hall with pride and reverence. It was a fitting culmination to an evening that not only celebrated India’s freedom but also reaffirmed the timeless call to serve, protect, and uplift the sacred land of Bharat as envisioned by Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba.
