On the auspicious occasion of Vijayadashami, the Sri Sathya Sai Institute of Higher Medical Sciences – Prasanthigram achieved yet another milestone in healthcare excellence with the commissioning of a state-of-the-art robotic surgery system with the divine blessings of Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba.
The advanced system, valued at ₹8 crore, was inaugurated by Mr RJ Rathnakar (Managing Trustee, SSSCT) alongside Mr K Chakravarthi (Trustee, SSSCT), Mr ISN Prasad (Trustee, SSSCT), in the presence of Dr Gurumurthy (Director, SSSIHMS – PG) & Dr Anil Kumar Mulpur (Joint Director, Head of CTVS) and other senior functionaries of the hospital.
The SSi Mantra Robotic System, indigenously developed by SS Innovations, is capable of performing a wide range of complex surgical procedures across specialities. At SSSIHMS, it will primarily benefit the departments of Cardio-Thoracic Surgery and Urology.
Robotic surgery, being minimally invasive, offers patients significant advantages such as reduced blood loss, lower risk of infection, less pain, and quicker recovery. For surgeons, it provides unmatched precision, enhanced access to intricate areas of the body, and greater ease during prolonged procedures.
Mr Rathnakar emphasised that the inauguration of this system marks not just the integration of cutting-edge technology, but also the reaffirmation of the Central Trust’s commitment to Bhagawan Baba’s mission of providing the highest standards of compassionate, value-based healthcare totally free of cost to all. He remarked, “The Robotic Surgical System will enhance our ability to deliver safer, more effective surgical care, furthering Bhagawan’s vision of healthcare as a temple of service.”
This landmark initiative places SSSIHMS at the forefront of advanced surgical care in India, continuing Bhagawan’s mission of blending modern medical technology with timeless human values.
