When Prasanthi Became Light: Deepavali at the Divine Abode | Yajur Mandiram, Prasanthi Nilayam | Oct 20, 2025

As twilight descended upon the sacred hamlet of Puttaparthi, the skies above Prasanthi Nilayam shimmered in hues of gold and crimson. The gentle crackle of fireworks, the soft glow of countless lamps, and the fragrance of incense merged into a sublime symphony of devotion and celebration. It was not just another Deepavali — it was a divine call to awaken the inner light, a sacred step in the grand journey toward the Centenary Mahotsavam of our beloved Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba.

This year’s Diwali celebrations carried a special significance. In a first-of-its-kind offering, the alumnae and students of the Sri Sathya Sai Institute of Higher Learning, Anantapur Campus, illuminated the entire ashram with over one lakh eco-friendly earthen lamps, each one lovingly hand-crafted over the course of a month. Every diya was more than just clay and flame — it was a vessel of gratitude, a beacon of devotion, and a symbol of unwavering commitment to Swami’s message of love and service.

Continuing a cherished tradition started by Bhagawan Himself, the boys from Swami’s educational institutions joyfully gathered near Yajur Mandiram, lighting firecrackers in celebration. The vibrant sounds and radiant bursts of light echoed the joy of those early years, when Bhagawan would personally partake in and bless this festive act. This beautiful tradition lives on — not merely as a memory, but as a living celebration of His presence and love.

As the lamps glowed through the night and the skies burst into radiant celebration, Prasanthi Nilayam stood as a beacon of divine effulgence, guiding humanity toward unity, peace, and inner transformation. The Festival of Lights was no longer merely a celebration — it had become a message lived, a vision illuminated, and a promise renewed.
