With the divine blessings of our most beloved Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba, the alumni of the Sri Sathya Sai Institute of Higher Learning (SSSIHL) have offered yet another shining expression of love in action — the inauguration of the Sri Sathya Sai Palliative and Cancer Care Centre on this auspicious Karthika Somavara.
Inaugurated by Mr RJ Rathnakar, Managing Trustee of Sri Sathya Sai Central Trust, the newly opened 24-bedded facility is located just behind the West Gate of Prasanthi Nilayam. Spread across 20,000 sq ft, the centre is dedicated to providing holistic medical and spiritual care to the needy at no cost.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr Rathnakar lauded the commitment of the alumni in serving the Lord through service to humanity. He appreciated the coming together of many sectors and individuals in this noble endeavour, remarking how the passion continues to burn bright in their efforts to serve Swami and His devotees. He prayed at Bhagawan’s Lotus Feet to continue granting strength and inspiration to all.
A Journey of Love and Care
What began three and a half years ago as a humble 10-bedded palliative care unit has today blossomed into a comprehensive Palliative and Cancer Care Centre offering both medical and surgical oncology services. The centre also houses five dialysis machines, enabling the treatment of chronic patients with love and dignity.
Over the past few years, they have lovingly served more than 1,500 patients, offering not just medical assistance but also emotional comfort and spiritual solace. Their dedicated team operates two mobile vans, covering a 50-kilometre radius around Puttaparthi, bringing healthcare and compassion directly to patients’ homes through a team of trained doctors and nurses.
Since its inception, the centre has been conducting monthly cancer screening camps in collaboration with MS Ramaiah Medical College, benefiting many individuals in and around Puttaparthi. With Bhagawan’s boundless grace, this noble initiative is now being expanded into a daily screening and treatment service, ensuring timely diagnosis, continuous care, and early medical intervention for devotees and the local community alike.
As this initiative enters a new chapter in Bhagawan’s Centenary Year, the alumni of SSSIHL offer this loving expansion of seva at His Divine Lotus Feet — a humble tribute to their Eternal Master, whose life was the greatest example of selfless love and service.
