As part of the 2nd Global Vedic Conference, the evening session of Day 2 in the Sai Kulwant Hall featured two erudite presentations that explored the integration of Indian Knowledge Systems with contemporary academic frameworks, followed by a powerful classical dance offering by distinguished alumni of the Sri Sathya Sai Bal Vikas programme, leaving the audience enriched both intellectually and spiritually.
Professor Ganti Suryanarayana Murthy delivered an inspiring and informative talk about reforming education through a Vedic lens. He emphasised that the ‘Bharatiya Drishti’ of scientific research and gathering knowledge is fundamentally different from the modern reductionist materialistic approach, where complete nourishment of the body, mind, and soul is not recognised with equal importance in modern science.
Next, Dr Ujwala Chakradeo elaborated on the beautiful architecture of the temples in India, stating that they are expressions of the living knowledge of the Vedas, which beautifully blend art, knowledge and scripture. She also explained the profound symbolism in temple movement—from the brilliance of the outer spaces to the still darkness of the Garbhagruha, guiding the devotee inward, away from worldly distractions and toward divine communion.
The evening culminated in a vibrant dance offering titled ‘Nataraja Tandava’, a rhythmic invocation of Lord Shiva’s cosmic dance, presented by Mr Aswin Sidhaarth and Mr Sundaresan Pandurangan—both proud alumni of the Sri Sathya Sai Bal Vikas program and trained at the renowned Kalakshetra Foundation.
With electrifying footwork, intricate rhythmic patterns, and intense expressive energy, the dancers brought alive the Tandava. Their performance stood as a moving reminder that art, when rooted in spirituality, becomes a form of worship.
