#MOTHER SAI FOUNDATION
International guests from India and various spiritual communities in the area
Varallo Pombia, Sept 20, 2025
The Mother Sai Foundation has organised a special day dedicated to spirituality for tomorrow, Sunday 21 September.
On Sunday 21 September, from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., the splendid and lush setting of the Mother Sai Foundation in Varallo Pombia will host an intense day filled with spirituality and music, with distinguished guests from India and various spiritual communities in the area.
At a time when divisions are rife and harbour aggression, the aim is to celebrate the great value of unity: Unity in diversity, unity in divinity, unity of religions, and unity of values.
The longed-for peace in this world can only be achieved by cultivating the awareness, with joy, that despite our diversity, we are all part of a greater whole.
The teaching of love
“There is only one religion: the religion of love. There is only one language: the language of the heart. There is only one race: the human race.” These are some famous verses by the divine Indian master, Sri Sathya Sai Baba, to whom the Mother Sai Foundation in Varallo is dedicated. Maria Antonietta Marena, the president of the Mother Sai Foundation and the Sri Sathya Sai Global Council Italy and daughter of the foundation’s first founder, Pietro Marena, will open Sunday’s proceedings with a brief welcome, introducing participants to the rich and varied programme. This will begin with the traditional Puja and Yajna of Brahmin Pazany Ponnusamy, dedicated to various Hindu deities.
The next guest to arrive will be Mr Shitu Chudasama, the Zone Chair of the Sri Sathya Sai Global Council for Europe and the UK. A prominent spiritual figure, he has dedicated his life to Sai Baba’s mission for 35 years, ever since he held the position of president of all Sai Baba’s young devotees worldwide. He will be accompanied by his wife, Rita, who is also deeply involved in the Master’s humanitarian and educational mission.
Also present will be Buddha Janaki Sai Ram, a former model student of Sai Baba’s who is now a member of the Foundation’s Board of Directors. Another guest will be Dr Antonio Oliviero, an internationally renowned physician with several patents in the field of paraplegia. He is also a member of the Board of Directors and will assist the Foundation with its projects for disabled people.
This will be followed by the melodious voice of teacher and art critic Pamela Stroppa. She has also distinguished herself as an excellent teacher of Sai Baba’s Human Values programme for children and young people. Then, Gianluca Donvito, Vice President of the Sri Sathya Sai Global Council Italy, will read passages from sacred literature on the theme of the event. He has a talent for expressive reading and a love of the written and spoken word. The selection of texts is by Francesco Gagliardo from the Sai Baba centre in Catania, which was visited by the famous Master Raphael, founder of the Ashram Vidya publishing house. His son Davide will also be present.
After lunch, there will be an interesting talk by Dr Paolo Brusasco, a world-renowned archaeologist, expert in international relations in the Middle East and winner of the 2018 Montale Prize for ‘Literature Outside the Home’. Accompanied by his partner, the pianist Carolina Barbero, he will perform some compositions and give a talk on interreligious dialogue and human values.
This will be followed by a delicious Indian and Western-style vegan lunch, after which you can enjoy music and dance in the afternoon.
Participating groups
There will be performances by groups of different faiths, including the Shiva Raghandarva. This group of six brilliant musicians and singers was recently acclaimed at Prashanti Nilayam in Puttaparthi, the birthplace of Master Sai Baba in Andhra Pradesh. Also performing will be the famous and talented soprano Maria Rosa Bersanetti. She is the founder of the Buddhist Centre of Belvedere Langhe and has been dedicated to sacred music for decades. There will also be a group of Mother Sai’s Bhajan singers. These sacred Hindu choral songs bring together devotees from all over Italy for the occasion. Also performing will be the Buddhist monks of the Healing Meditation Centre in Albagnano. They are led by Lama Michel Rinpoche. Finally, there will be a fascinating Kuchipudi dance performance. This Indian dance style was created and will be performed by the artist Chitrangee Uppamah.
In short, it will be a whirlwind of sounds, colours and sensations, aimed at reviving the aspiration in everyone’s hearts to seek a more authentic path in the name of universal human values such as love, brotherhood, non-violence and respect for diversity — values which should enrich, not divide.
This is the sacred path of religious unity and the high road of the five human values taught by Sai Baba: truth, righteousness, peace, love and non-violence.
Participation in the event is completely free of charge, with ample free parking available.
