The second day of the Onam celebrations at Prasanthi Nilayam commenced in the evening with an inspiring address by Dr V Narayanan, Chairman of ISRO and Secretary of the Department of Space. In his thought-provoking speech, he reflected on the phenomenal progress of India since independence, particularly in the vital fields of education, healthcare, and space research.
Rekindling a spirit of patriotism and reverence for the motherland, Dr Narayanan highlighted India’s emergence as an undisputed world power. He eloquently traced the nation’s unique journey of growth—founded on the strength of character, resilience, unity of faith, excellence in action, and above all, a spiritual heart that transcends all divisions to place humanity first. With deep gratitude, he concluded his address by offering his heartfelt thanks at the Divine Lotus Feet for the blessing of witnessing Bhagawan’s mission unfold so magnificently.
The evening then blossomed into music divine with a soul-stirring devotional concert by Ms Kavya Ajit and her team. Opening with the vibrant Sri Ganesha Sharanam, she invoked the blessings of the remover of obstacles with mellifluous devotion. The concert featured a delightful mix of Carnatic, devotional, and folk compositions, including much-loved Tamil pieces such as Maadum Meikum Kanne, Theerada Vilayatu Pillai, and selections from the Thiruppugazh. With her concluding offering of the spirited Thillana – Geeta Dhunaku, Ms Kavya left the entire Sai Kulwant Hall reverberating with joy, rhythm, and devotion.
Earlier in the day, Dr Narayanan visited the Temple of Healing (SSSIHMS) and the Temple of Learning (SSSIHL). Deeply moved by the grand vision and mission of Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba, and overwhelmed by the scale of service being rendered selflessly to humanity, he offered his profound gratitude to Swami for setting a timeless example and pioneering such unparalleled institutions of love and service.
