Anna Prasadam and Medicare for the Workers Involved in Construction of New Dormitories | Mar 12, 2025

As one approaches the majestic western corner of the Ashram, where the humble sheds once stood, the sight of grand construction work underway is impossible to miss. This is part of the grand initiative by the Sri Sathya Sai Central Trust to build new dormitories – a much-needed accommodation facility for the increasing number of devotees visiting Prasanthi Nilayam. With Bhagawan’s Centenary celebrations just around the corner, the footfall of pilgrims is steadily growing day by day. In preparation for this, the Trust is making extensive arrangements to ensure that the increasing number of visitors have a comfortable stay.

An interesting and heartwarming aspect of this project is the selfless and compassionate care shown by the Sri Sathya Sai Central Trust towards those who are working tirelessly on this construction. In line with the teachings of Bhagawan, it is often noted that when one dedicates oneself to the service of Swami’s mission, Swami will take care of that individual’s welfare. Similarly, the Trust has taken a magnanimous step by providing free meals to all the labourers and workers involved in the construction of these dormitories, which will eventually provide “ashreya” (shelter) for the pilgrims.

Around 300 daily-wage labourers and workers are engaged in this project, working relentlessly in varying weather conditions. Puttaparthi is known for its extreme climate, and these workers face harsh conditions, from scorching heat to heavy rains to extreme cold. Additionally, their work exposes them to health hazards such as respiratory and ocular issues due to the cement, sand, and dust at the construction site. Recognising these challenges, the Central Trust has also arranged for regular medical camps to be held weekly, offering care and addressing any physical ailments that the workers may face. This afternoon, Sri RJ Rathnakar (Managing Trustee – SSSCT) initiated the first serving of meals to the workers after offering humble and sincere prayers to Bhagawan for the well-being of these ‘sevaks’. The food prasadam offered to the workers is lovingly prepared in Swami’s canteens, with every meal infused with purity, health, and nourishment, as a divine offering. This act of service reflects Bhagawan’s message of love, care, and service to all.

Next time you visit Prasanthi Nilayam, take a moment to bask in the divine glory of Sai and witness the progress of the construction work that began last summer. The work has been progressing at a brisk pace, and as you observe the growth of these new facilities, do remember to offer prayers for the welfare of all those involved in this noble endeavour.

May Bhagawan’s blessings continue to guide and protect all those who are contributing their time and effort towards fulfilling His mission.
