The sacred precincts of Prasanthi Nilayam awoke in sublime stillness this morning, as Chinese devotees gathered for Bai Tian Gong or Pai Tee Kong—the traditional prayers offered in gratitude to the Jade Emperor on His celestial birthday. Marking the spiritual high point and grand finale of the Chinese New Year celebrations, the early morning ritual unfolded in an atmosphere that was serene, sacred and deeply uplifting.
As the first light of dawn gently touched the ashram skyline, the ambience was ethereal. A cool breeze swept softly across the grounds, birds heralded the sunrise with cheerful notes, and the golden hues of the morning sky seemed to mirror the devotion in every heart. It was a sight to behold—nature itself appearing to join in the prayerful offering.
Devotees from Zone 5 countries of the Sri Sathya Sai Seva Global Council lovingly prepared a traditional altar behind the North 6 building within the ashram premises. Draped in auspicious red cloth, the altar was adorned with customary offerings—rice cakes, buns, symbolic pagodas, incense sticks and lamps—each arrangement reflecting reverence, gratitude and cultural richness.
Bhagawan was ceremoniously ushered in a charming procession, seated upon a beautifully decorated sun chariot. Addressing the gathering, Mr RJ Rathnakar, Managing Trustee of Sri Sathya Sai Central Trust, expressed his happiness at witnessing such devotion in the tranquil early hours. Reflecting on the unique spiritual vibrations of Prasanthi at dawn, he recalled Bhagawan’s words that celestial beings descend during these sacred moments, making the pre-sunrise hours especially divine. He beautifully highlighted how devotees across the world celebrate different New Years according to their traditions, and how all such sacred expressions are lovingly welcomed in Prasanthi—an abode of unity in diversity, bound together by Swami’s Magnetic Love.
Following the address, devotees reverentially offered incense at the altar and performed the traditional ritual of placing kim cua—folded paper offerings—into the sacred flames, symbolising prayers for prosperity, protection and peace.
