With the divine blessings of Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba, the Sri Sathya Sai Central Trust joyfully concluded the final phase of the Go-Daan initiative on this sacred Sunday morning, completing the distribution of 100 Gir cows to deserving beneficiaries across villages in the Sri Sathya Sai District.
This noble initiative was inaugurated on November 19, 2025, during the historic visit of the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India, Mr Narendra Modi, to Puttaparthi for Bhagawan’s Centenary Celebrations. Implemented in planned phases, 64 indigenous Gir cows were distributed during the first two phases, culminating now in the fulfilment of the centenary resolve.
Addressing the beneficiaries, Mr RJ Rathnakar, Managing Trustee of the Sri Sathya Sai Central Trust, explained that this sacred Go-Daan Seva goes beyond gifting a cow. Gir cows, known for their resilience, adaptability, and high-quality A2 milk, were chosen to support sustainable rural livelihoods. Emphasising continuity and collective prosperity, beneficiaries were encouraged to pass on the calves born subsequently to their neighbours or family members, ensuring that the blessings ripple across the village and foster social harmony and shared growth. This approach echoes the age-old tradition of Girinka—“may you have a cow”—practised in parts of India and Africa.
Remarkably, the initiative has drawn many villagers, some of whom could not attend the centenary celebrations in person, to Puttaparthi – the janmabhoomi and karmabhoomi of Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba. Receiving Swami’s prasadam in the form of Gomata has filled hearts with devotion, gratitude, and renewed faith. As beneficiaries step into the New Year, Gomata’s arrival is welcomed not merely as a new family member but as the gracious entry of Goddess Lakshmi, heralding prosperity, dignity, and well-being. This Go-Daan initiative reflects the Central Trust’s centenary vision of holistic village upliftment, where spiritual values and economic sustainability walk hand in hand, continuing Swami’s message of love and selfless service.
