With the divine blessings of Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba, a landmark livelihood initiative undertaken as part of the Centenary Celebrations of Bhagawan was launched in Kochi on 23 July 2026 with the distribution of 100 autorickshaws to deserving beneficiaries from across Keralam.
The project was inaugurated by the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Keralam, Mr V D Satheesan, at the Bhaskareeyam Convention Centre, Elamakkara. The Managing Trustee of the Sri Sathya Sai Central Trust, Prasanthi Nilayam, Mr RJ Rathnakar, presided over the function. The program was graced by Mr Shankar Narayan Planjery, a long-standing devotee of Bhagawan, along with office-bearers and functionaries of the Sri Sathya Sai Seva Organisations, Keralam, amidst a large gathering of devotees, volunteers and well-wishers.
Conceived to foster dignity through self-reliance, the Sri Sathya Sai Jeevana Upadhi Project seeks to create sustainable livelihood opportunities rather than provide one-time financial assistance. The distribution of 100 autorickshaws equips economically deserving individuals with a dependable means of self-employment, enabling them to earn a steady income and support their families with confidence and dignity. Reflecting Bhagawan’s timeless message that true service should empower individuals to stand on their own feet, the initiative beautifully embodies the ideals of “Love All, Serve All” and “Help Ever, Hurt Never.”
Addressing the gathering, the Hon’ble Chief Minister expressed his appreciation for the selfless service rendered by the Sri Sathya Sai Seva Organisations, acknowledging that their humanitarian activities span the length and breadth of the country, touching countless lives through love in action. Other dignitaries also commended the vision behind the Jeevana Upadhi Project, observing that such initiatives extend far beyond material assistance by restoring hope, confidence and a sense of purpose to the beneficiaries. The recipients, in turn, expressed heartfelt gratitude, sharing that the autorickshaws would enable them to build stable livelihoods and secure a brighter future for their families.
Mr Rathnakar reflected on Bhagawan’s boundless love and unwavering concern for the welfare of the underprivileged and the downtrodden. He noted that Bhagawan’s life was a living example of selfless giving—giving endlessly without expectation, distinction or discrimination—embracing all with equal love and compassion. He urged everyone to carry forward this sacred legacy by ensuring that service not only alleviates immediate hardships but also empowers individuals to live with dignity, confidence and self-reliance.
Organised jointly by the Sri Sathya Sai Central Trust, Prasanthi Nilayam, and the Sri Sathya Sai Seva Organisations, Keralam, the launch of the Sri Sathya Sai Jeevana Upadhi Project marks another significant milestone in the Centenary service initiatives, reaffirming the commitment to transforming lives through compassionate, meaningful and sustainable service.
