When Bhagawan launched Radio Sai Global Harmony in 2001, little did we know that He was giving us a gift that would become the lifeline for devotees, spiritual seekers and aspirants across the globe. The Sri Sathya Sai Media Centre has not only played this vital role for listeners, viewers and readers, but has also been a profound blessing for the hundreds who have served through it. The Silver Jubilee observed today was a heartfelt expression of that gratitude, and the evening programme continued this expression.
The evening began with an address by Mr Sundar Swaminathan, Director, Sri Sathya Sai Media Centre. Mr Sundar, who took charge in 2018, described how the institution has grown from strength to strength, building on the dedicated contributions of its early years. He observed that while technology is ever-changing and the Media Centre will continue to upgrade itself to keep pace, Bhagawan’s message remains unchanged, and it is our sacred responsibility to take it to devotees across the globe.
This was followed by an audio-visual presentation tracing the 25-year journey of the institution.
The main offering of the evening was a musical tribute to our beloved Swami based on the bhajan ‘Hari Bhajana Bina Sukha Shanti Nahi’. The presentation was especially significant because Swami had chosen its tune as the signature tune of Radio Sai Global Harmony at its launch, and it continues in that role to this day.
The presentation began with renditions of the bhajan in multiple Indian languages, interspersed with short narrations highlighting the significance of its lines through the lives of inspiring saints. Students of the Sri Sathya Sai Higher Secondary School enacted the roles of Chaitanya, Meera, Padmapada, Valmiki and Eknath Maharaj. The musical garland concluded with an energetic Qawwali, after which a student personifying the Media Centre offered his gratitude.
The evening concluded with the prize distribution. Contests commemorating the Silver Jubilee had been held earlier in the year in categories including elocution, short-film making and music-video making. Prize winners who were present were presented with their medals and certificates by the elders.
