The sacred precincts of Prasanthi Nilayam came alive with the joyous presence of nearly 3,000 Bal Vikas Gurus, coordinators and educationists from sixteen countries as the Sri Sathya Sai Global Bal Vikas Gurus’ Conference 2026 commenced this morning at the Sai Kulwant Hall. Held after the sacred Guru Poornima celebrations, the conference is themed “Upholding Truth, Nurturing Hearts, Blossoming Excellence”—a timely reminder that the true purpose of education is the blossoming of noble character.
The morning proceedings began with the soulful chanting of Vedic hymns by Bal Vikas Gurus, invoking divine blessings for the three-day conference. The office bearers from SSSSO and SSSGC reverentially marched in a humble procession, and a beautifully choreographed theme song highlighted the divine vision behind Bal Vikas—a sacred gift from Bhagawan to restore the true purpose of education by transforming human life into divine life through the cultivation of universal human values.
This was followed by ceremonial lamp lighting by revered elders and functionaries. The inaugural session also witnessed the release of the Centenary edition of the Sri Sathya Sai Bal Vikas Magazine, themed The Triple Divine Bond of Bal Vikas, the Guru Poornima special issue of the magazine, and a comprehensive handbook for Group 1 Bal Vikas Gurus.
In his welcome address, Mr Nimish Pandya described Bal Vikas as one of Bhagawan’s greatest gifts to the world and called for a unified global understanding of its philosophy. Stressing that the movement should never dilute its core principles to suit changing trends, he reminded delegates that while technology has its place, it can never replace the priceless heart-to-heart bond between a Guru and a child. Referring to the millions of Bal Vikas alumni across the world, he urged everyone to strengthen this global movement as a powerful force for societal transformation.
Addressing the gathering, Ms Sai Priya Vijayraghavan reflected on the sacred responsibility entrusted to every Bal Vikas Guru. The greatest qualification of a teacher, she observed, is not academic accomplishment but unconditional love for children, unwavering faith in Bhagawan, and sincere personal sadhana. A Guru inspires not merely through words but through example, allowing divine love to naturally flow into the hearts of students. Rather than attempting to reform children, Gurus were encouraged to constantly refine themselves, becoming worthy instruments in Bhagawan’s mission.
