Mahashivaratri Celebrations in Prasanthi Nilayam Morning Functions Feb 26, 2025

The sacred morning of Mahashivaratri at Prasanthi Nilayam commenced with the melodious rendering of Shiva Vandanam—devotional songs and stotrams extolling Lord Sai Shiva. The divine vibrations resonated through Sai Kulwant Hall, filling the air with an overwhelming sense of piety and spiritual fervour.

This year’s Maha Shivaratri was particularly momentous as it followed the grand culmination of the Ati Rudra Maha Yajnam, meticulously organised by the Sri Sathya Sai Seva Organisations (SSSSO) India and Sri Sathya Sai Central Trust (SSSCT). This sacred yajnam, executed with precision and devotion, prepared the devotees for an auspicious and spiritually enriching Shivaratri.

A remarkable highlight of this year’s observance was the overwhelming ‘virtual’ participation of over 13,000 devotees from more than 83 countries, who registered and took part by chanting the holiest of the holies—Sri Rudram. Spearheaded by the Sri Sathya Sai Media Centre (SSSMC), this initiative extended the divine opportunity to devotees worldwide. A dedicated virtual platform – web app was created, allowing devotees to chant the Rudram from their respective locations and unite in this sacred offering.

While one Ati Rudra Maha Yajnam was performed in Sai Kulwant Hall, eight more were conducted globally through this virtual platform, bringing the total count to the auspicious number of nine—symbolising the highest state of divinity and spiritual fulfilment. This collective endeavour created a powerful wave of devotion, elevating the spiritual consciousness of all participants.

In recognition of this unparalleled spiritual feat, the India Book of Records has officially acknowledged the initiative as a significant achievement. On this sacred morning, Mr Narvijay Yadav, the esteemed adjudicator of the India Book of Records, presented the official award to the dignitaries and functionaries in the divine presence.

Mr Yadav, who was present here yesterday, soaking in the divine vibrations was physical witness to the grand culmination. He is a distinguished journalist with 36 years of experience in the media industry, also serves as the Editor of the India Book of Records Monthly Magazine.

May the divine vibrations of this sacred day continue to resonate in our hearts, guiding us on the path of righteousness and unwavering devotion.
