Sri Sathya Sai General Hospital | 70 Years of Selfless Service | Oct 04, 1956

It was on this day, 70 years ago, that the original General Hospital building was inaugurated by Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba.

At a time when the tiny hamlet of Puttaparthi lacked even basic healthcare facilities, Easwaramma, the compassionate mother, pleaded with her beloved Son, Bhagawan, to provide healthcare, education and water for the villagers. Responding to her loving plea, Bhagawan established this hospital, which stands today as a lasting expression of His Divine love and compassion.

The original building, constructed at Prasanthi Nilayam on the hill to the south, was a simple one-storey structure with a large central room flanked by two smaller rooms. Over the past 70 years of selfless service, the institution has provided completely free healthcare to more than 10 million patients and continues to serve countless people with love, compassion and dedication, reflecting Swami’s message of service to humanity.

On this special occasion, we offer our heartfelt gratitude and prayers to Bhagawan and wish all the doctors and staff of the Sri Sathya Sai General Hospital continued strength, dedication and energy to serve in His name.
