A Historic First – Global Event Hosted in India in Bhagawan’s Centenary Year

In a moment that will be etched in history, Prasanthi Nilayam has been chosen as the venue by the World Heart Federation (WHF) as the global host for World Heart Day 2025 celebrations, a distinction never before accorded to any place in India. This prestigious selection by the WHF is an extraordinary mark of honour — especially meaningful as it coincides with the centenary year of the coming of Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba to this world.

In the spiritual heartland of Puttaparthi, devotees, students, medical professionals, and global dignitaries have converged to give expression to a powerful synergy of science, service, and spirituality.

Sunrise in Red: A March of Devotion and Purpose

At dawn, the ashram precincts stirred with purpose and zeal. All the students from Bhagawan’s educational institutions, in unison, donned red T‑shirts — the colour emblematic of the heart — and assembled for a community health walk. The procession moved from Ganesh Gate to Hill View Stadium through the sacred pathway, radiating unity, awareness and spiritual fervour. The march was not merely a walk but a powerful pictorial statement: moving forward in disciplined rows, with banners and flags, under a theme of life, health, and awareness.

Upon arrival at the Hill View Stadium grounds, the students transformed into living tableaux — human formations of breathtaking precision, conveying multiple layers of meaning:

  1. “100” — A tribute to Bhagawan’s birth centenary year, symbolising that the divine legacy and message endure a century on.
  2. “25” — Marking the 25th anniversary of World Heart Day itself, an acknowledgement of the decades of global advocacy for cardiovascular health.
  3. The World Heart Federation logo — a visual alignment of the global heart health mission.
  4. A healthy beating heart — the most poignant, living emblem of life, vitality, unity and compassion.

Impressed by the discipline and spirit of the celebrations, Dr Jagat Narula, President of WHF, expressed his heartfelt gratitude to Bhagawan and the Sri Sathya Sai Central Trust for hosting this landmark event. He called it a model confluence of science, service, and spirituality.

The celebrations are part of the Sri Sathya Sai Global Cardiovascular Symposium & World Heart Day 2025 — a multi-day initiative including free medical camp, global expert sessions, red illuminations, and outreach programmes — all under the theme “Don’t Miss A Beat – Use Heart for Action”.

This event not only elevates India on the global health stage but also stands as a beacon of Bhagawan’s message of Love, Service, and Universal Well-being.

For the devotees and the Trust, it is both an honour and a challenge: to live up to the expectations of global scholars, public health institutions, and millions who look to Sri Sathya Sai’s service ideals. The discipline, orderliness, aesthetic appeal, and sincerity with which today’s events unfolded already speak of that resolve.

As the centenary year continues, this occasion will be remembered as a landmark: where the global heart care movement found its spiritual home, even if for a day, in Prasanthi Nilayam; where thousands of young hearts walked in red for awareness; where human formations spelled devotion and commitment; and where leaders in medicine paid tribute to the Spirit that undergirds all true healing.
