On the sacred evening of the auspicious festival of Guru Poornima, the hallowed precincts of Prasanthi Nilayam resonated with divine melodies as acclaimed National Film Award-winning vocalist Mahesh Kale and his ensemble presented a soul-stirring devotional music concert at the Sai Kulwant Hall.
Accompanied by a distinguished ensemble comprising Pawan Sidam (Tabla), Rohit Khawale (Pakhawaj), Rajiv Tambe (Harmonium), Dhaval Joshi (Flute), Abhishek Bhuruk (Percussions), along with students from the Mahesh Kale School of Music providing vocal support, Mahesh Kale led devotees through a rich repertoire of devotional compositions, with a special emphasis on traditional Abhangs.
The repertoire celebrated the glory of the Guru and the Divine through evocative Abhangs such as Paye Tujhe Gururaya, extolling the sanctity of the Guru’s feet, and Kabir’s Guru Kripa Anjan Payo, which beautifully portrays the transforming grace of the spiritual master. Other soulful renderings included Bhajanavin Kal Ghalvu Nako Re Hari, urging seekers to spend every moment in the remembrance of God, Purandara Dasa’s immortal Jagadodharana, and the beloved Marathi classic Kanada Raja Pandharicha in praise of Lord Vitthal.
Blending the grandeur of Indian classical music with the simplicity of heartfelt devotion, Mahesh Kale’s offering became a fitting musical tribute to Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba, reminding all present that music, when offered with love and devotion, becomes a pathway to the Divine.
