Sayeeshwara Lingabhishekam – Mahashivaratri Akhanda Bhajan Commencing – Feb 26, 2025

On this auspicious and spiritually uplifting evening of Mahashivaratri, devotees thronged Prasanthi Nilayam to witness the magnificent and soul-stirring Sayeeshwara Lingabhishekam, yet another time, performed in the most sanctified and traditional manner.

The sacred rituals commenced in the serene and powerful sanctum sanctorum, where the priests, with deep reverence and unwavering devotion, performed the initial sanctifications, invoking divine energies. The sublime and effulgent Sayeeshwara Lingam was then ceremoniously brought out in a majestic and spiritually charged procession, accompanied by the Poornakumbham, an emblem of divine prosperity, fulfilment, and eternal cosmic presence.

Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba, the Eternal Shiva Incarnate, was reverently and regally ushered into the divine assembly in a resplendently adorned, newly decorated chariot. The air reverberated with the sacred and soul-stirring notes of Mangala Vadyam and Shiva Vadyam, while the mellifluous intonations of Vedic chants created an ethereal and transcendental atmosphere. Chamaras swayed rhythmically, symbolising celestial adoration, as the procession unfolded in all its grandeur and divinity. Devotees, enraptured and overwhelmed, stood in awe and devotion, their hearts brimming with joy, gratitude, and spiritual ecstasy at the sight of the divine spectacle.

The sacrosanct and meticulously observed sequence of rituals commenced with the Ekadasha Dravya Abhishekam, an elaborate and divine offering of eleven sacred and sanctified substances like milk, curds, honey, tender coconut water, kumkum, turmeric, sandalwood, sugar, Vibhuti, bill leaves, vibrant flowers etc onto the glorious Sayeeshwara Lingam. Each offering was poured with utmost devotion, while Vedic hymns resonated across the sanctum, amplifying the spiritual vibrations and elevating the divine ambience.

This was followed by the Maha Rudra Abhishekam, an exalted and profoundly energising ritual, invoking the supreme cosmic energies of Lord Rudra. As the sacred mantras were chanted with precision and sanctity, waves of divine vibrations enveloped the gathering, filling every heart with blissful serenity and spiritual fulfilment. The Maha Alankaram was then performed, wherein the Sayeeshwara Lingam was adorned in resplendent, shimmering decorations, exuding an aura of divine splendour and celestial magnificence.

Akhanda Bhajan – The Eternal Chanting of the Divine Name

As the night unfolded, the Akhanda Bhajan commenced, marking the beginning of an uninterrupted flow of divine vibrations. During the bhajans, the holy ‘Samprokshanam’ – sprinkling of sacred waters was performed.

A Spiritual Bonus – The Extended Divine Bliss

Even though the Ati Rudra Maha Yajnam had officially concluded yesterday, devotees were blessed beyond measure to experience the grandeur and sanctity of the Sayeeshwara Lingabhishekam this evening as an added divine delight.
