Sri Sathya Sai Japan Day Celebrations in Prasanthi Nilayam | Morning Proceedings | April 3, 2025

The sacred precincts of Prasanthi Nilayam resonated with devotion and gratitude as Sri Sathya Sai Japan Day was celebrated with deep reverence. Today’s festivities held special significance as they mark:

. The Centenary Year of Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba (1926 – 2025)
. The 50th Anniversary of the Sathya Sai Organisation Japan (1975 – 2025)
. The 10th Anniversary of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between SSSIHL and JAIST

A dedicated contingent of devotees from Japan assembled at the Sanctum Sanctorum, offering their love through spiritual and cultural presentations at the Divine Lotus Feet.

The morning session commenced with the chanting of the Sri Rudram by the Japanese devotees, invoking divine vibrations of protection and grace. This was followed by a deeply reverential chanting of Sri Sathya Sai Ashtottara Shatanamavali in Japanese—the 108 names of Bhagawan- that was offered and blessed by Swami in 1995.

A heartfelt musical presentation, ‘Our Journey with Sai’ followed, comprising three soul-stirring devotional songs. The offering culminated with the deeply emotive ‘Humko Tumse Pyar Kitna’, an expression of the devotees’ boundless love for Bhagawan. Mr Masaki Sumitomo, Chairperson of the Sri Sathya Sai Organisation, Japan, then addressed the gathering, reflecting on the immense spiritual significance of this occasion. He emphasised the power of prayer, reminding all that sincere prayers to God always yield results. In a divine revelation, he narrated experiences of the appearance of a Shivalingam, sacred statues of Lord Shiva, and Bhagawan’s Padukas, reinforcing the omnipresence of Sai. He urged everyone to offer a befitting tribute to Swami on His centenary by living His teachings and fostering harmony.

H.E. Sanjay Kumar Verma, Chairperson of the Research and Information System for Developing Countries (RIS) and former Ambassador of India to Japan, then took the stage. Recalling his visit to Swami’s centre in Japan after assuming duty, he praised the relentless service activities of Sai devotees, particularly their humanitarian efforts during the COVID-19 pandemic. He emphasised how both nations cherish and uphold the ideal of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam—The World is One Family, underscoring how Bhagawan’s teachings continue to strengthen the spiritual and cultural ties between India and Japan.

The Ladies’ Wing of the Organisation then presented a mesmerising sequence of traditional Japanese dances as an expression of their devotion:

‘Ryukyu Buyo’ – An elegant Okinawan traditional dance showcasing Japan’s rich cultural heritage.

‘Sakura Sakura’ – A graceful Nihon Buyo dance performed in traditional attire, celebrating Japan’s beloved cherry blossoms.

‘Eisa’ – A dynamic traditional folk dance filled with energy and joy. ‘Ryukyu Buyo’ – An elegant Okinawan traditional dance showcasing Japan’s rich cultural heritage.

The entire celebration stood as a profound offering of love and gratitude, marking significant milestones in the journey of the Japanese Sathya Sai fraternity. With heartfelt devotion, the devotees dedicated this occasion at the Divine Lotus Feet of their beloved Bhagawan, reaffirming their commitment to live His message and serve as instruments of His love and harmony.
