As the sacred Centenary Celebrations of Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba draw nearer, a mighty wave of service — pure, purposeful, and transformative — is sweeping across the Sai fraternity. Among the many offerings at His divine lotus feet stands a remarkable initiative — the Sri Sathya Sai Sathavarsha Seva Yajnam — a living expression of Bhagawan’s eternal message: “Hands that help are holier than lips that pray.”
Conceived with the noble intent to uplift 1,000 individuals — and thereby 1,000 families — from the economically weaker sections of society, this seva yajnam goes far beyond material aid. It seeks to provide a life support system — one that nurtures dignity, self-respect, and self-reliance, enabling beneficiaries to lead a life of purpose and fulfilment.
Empowering Livelihoods, Enabling Self-Reliance
The offerings under the Sathavarsha Seva Yajnam are carefully chosen tools of transformation — instruments that foster self-sustenance and economic independence. These include:
- Tailoring Machines – 100
- Wet Grinders – 100
- Beautician Kits – 100
On the ladies’ side, these items were gracefully distributed by Ms Himavahni Rathnakar during this evening session.
Additionally, computers, push carts, tricycles, and tool kits for electricians, plumbers, and carpenters, along with scholarships for deserving students, are set to be distributed in the following morning session.
In total, 300 livelihood kits were lovingly placed into deserving hands this evening, with 700 more beneficiaries poised to receive their share of Swami’s grace — completing the thousand lights of love envisioned for this sacred seva yajnam.
Sevadal in Action: The Sadhana of Service
The Sevadal members from Hyderabad, Telangana, were blessed with the sacred responsibility of executing this noble program. Particular emphasis was placed on assisting single mothers and widows, many of whom are skilled artisans trained in the Organisation’s own skill development programs but lacked the means to begin their journey toward self-employment.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr Malleshwara Rao (District President, SSSSO–Hyderabad) reminded the gathering that the distribution ceremony is not the culmination but the commencement of a deeper commitment. True seva, he said, is sustained, not momentary. Thus begins the next phase — a spiritual sadhana of continuous care, guidance, and hand-holding.
Through constant follow-up and compassionate counselling, the Sevadal will ensure that every prasadam — each tool of livelihood — is meaningfully used and never wasted. This model of ongoing support beautifully reflects the SRPM model established by Bhagawan Himself — where Service, Resource, Participation, and Monitoring merge into a seamless, loving continuum of Love in Action.
As one beholds these thousand lives being gently uplifted, one witnesses not merely the distribution of material goods, but the dawn of self-confidence and hope in the eyes of each recipient. Indeed, this Yajnam stands as a radiant reflection of Bhagawan’s boundless love — a living testament to His timeless words: “Service to man is service to God.”
