Sri Sathya Sai Global Mahila Conference | Day 1 – Opening Ceremony | June 6, 2025

A sacred and momentous occasion unfolded today at the holy abode of Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba, as thousands of women delegates from 18 countries, including India, assembled in a spirit of unity, devotion, and purpose for the first-ever Global Mahila Conference, themed “Sri Sathya Sai Mahila Vibhag – The Visionaries of the Sai Mission.”

Being held from June 6 to 8, 2025, the conference stands as a testament to the vital role women have played, and continue to play, in the Sai Mission — as carriers of culture, custodians of values, and catalysts for transformation in society. The gathering serves to rededicate this force of selfless love to Bhagawan’s path of service, with renewed vigour and uplifted enthusiasm.

The morning proceedings began with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp, invoking divine grace. Dignitaries and senior functionaries from both the Sri Sathya Sai Seva Organisations (SSSSO) and the Sri Sathya Sai Global Council (SSSGC) joined together, symbolising unity and collective dedication to Bhagawan’s vision.

This was followed by a warm and insightful welcome address by Ms Neeta Khanna, who reflected on the genesis of the Sri Sathya Sai Mahila Vibhag, which Bhagawan initiated in 1969. She eloquently traced the divine intent behind this initiative, highlighting how Swami envisioned women’s empowerment not merely in worldly terms, but in spiritual leadership, moral strength, and compassionate service.

The hall was soon filled with devotion and emotion as an energising devotional song titled “Nari Shakti – Sai Ne Jeena Sikhaya” was rendered.

The morning’s pinnacle was the keynote address by the Hon’ble Justice Ms Ananya Bandhopadhyaya of the High Court of Calcutta. Delivering a speech that was both powerful and profoundly spiritual, Justice Bandhopadhyaya reflected deeply on the term ‘Sai Mahila’ — defining her as one who walks the path of truth, purity, sacrifice, and total surrender.

Interspersing her address with Bhagawan’s quotes, Justice Bandhopadhyaya brought the audience into her own life’s journey by narrating poignant incidents from her professional career. She described periods of intense trials and tribulations, where she found herself tested by circumstances that demanded not only moral courage but spiritual fortitude. In those defining moments, it was Bhagawan’s core teachings that gave her the strength to persevere. “I held on to Swami’s feet, and He carried me through,” she shared, drawing a collective silence and reflection from the audience.
Her words were a moving reminder that while external challenges may vary, the inner compass provided by Swami’s teachings remains the eternal anchor for all Sai devotees—especially the women, who are often the quiet pillars of strength in both home and society. Her speech resonated across the audience, drawing repeated applause and reflection.

The inaugural session concluded on a poignant note with the felicitation of twelve distinguished Sai Mahilas, hailing from across India and the globe. These women, whose life stories reflect dedication, leadership, and unrelenting service, were honoured for their exceptional contributions to the Sai Mission. From grassroots service workers to spiritual educators and community leaders, each one stands as a beacon of Bhagawan’s message in action.
